The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-rankedVaqueros (12-3) in Santurce on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Cangrejeros (8-6) 78-71 . It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Vaqueros. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It was a good game for the former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Angel Rodriguez (193-1992, college: PR-Bayamon) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197-1997, college: Oregon) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American center Javale McGee (213-1988, college: Nevada) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bayamon. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santurce maintains second position with 8-6 record having five points less than leader Arecibo. Bayamon at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost.
